    INTERVIEW ME
    Personal Statement

A hard-working and honest individual with the ability to succeed in demanding environments harnessed with a flexible but determined approach. Excellent teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills and a pro-active and open-minded attitude have together created a strong desire to take up responsibility and rise to challenges.

    Work experience

    Waterstones | Sales Consultant, Bookseller

    January 2014 - June 2014

    • Whilst working for one of the largest independent book retailers in the UK, I helped overlook a small team and ensured that we delivered excellent customer service from start to finish. My responsibilities varied from taking telephone and face to face in-store orders, communicating with suppliers and ensuring our shop floor was fully stocked at a consistent rate.

    • Duties also included merchandising and cashing up. My previous customer service skills came into effect again as I found it easy to build rapport and handle customers effectively.

    • I also used some of my sales skills that I have learnt over the years to cross sell additional items that we stock at our checkouts i.e. Bookmarks, Kindle device's (from carrying out demonstrations) reading lights and general stationery that is relevant to books. I also implemented a new Rota to ensure that we supervised the new children's section at all times.

USC [Republic] | Sales Consultant, Brand Specialist

    • I transferred the skills I learned at House of Fraser and perfected them at USC. I was predominantly in charge of denim and footwear and quickly became a brand representative, again for Jack & Jones.

    • As well as maintaining my section I was put onto the merchandising team. I enjoyed this as it gave me the opportunity to show my creative side and we made some unique store displays.

    • My other duties included helping customers with any and all queries, closing down in the evenings and cashing up.

ANB Promotions [Mark Group] | Energy Efficiency Assessor

    • I represented the Mark Group as an Energy Efficiency Assessor for the West Midlands region. My duties included managing my own time, data and leads along with attending morning meetings, weekly conference calls, running training tasks for other colleagues to help them refine their sales techniques and doing pitch practice with new Sales members in the mornings.

    • I studied the area within which I was working, searching for new business opportunities with local landlords and estate agents via phone/email/face-to-face visits. I built relationships and arranged meetings with potential clients. I carried out all elements of the process which included property assessments, cavity/loft inspections, creating detailed plans for the insulators to work from, credit finance agreements and also ensuring I abided to the FSA regulations within our industry.

    • Having this responsibility drove me to ensure that no mistakes were made and that the customer has been given the best level of service and aftercare.

House of Fraser Stores |Sales Consultant, Brand Specialist

    • As a store representative I attended meetings at head office in London where we discussed current finances, targets, new fashion lines and marketing strategies. In-house training taught me how different brands create new lines for each season, how the brand is merchandised, how they profile their customer each season, current and projected finances and how the brand is marketed to their target audience.

    • The nature of the post also required a high level of motivation and initiative which allowed me to think on my feet and take a more pro-active approach to work. As a valued member of the Menswear team, and as a brand specialist, I had a number of responsibilities.

    • These range from managing my assigned house brands, visually merchandising departments, stock control (balancing in-house stock and recall to other stores) as well as dealings over refunds, returns, customer queries, online orders and opening store credit accounts.
